Move-In Weekend Pics

A photo of the yard on Wednesday, 3 days pre-storm.A shot from the front door during the storm on Saturday. It was a lot of freaking snow (for Maryland). But really, 20+ inches is a lot of snow for just about anywhere but Alaska. The kitchen pre-move.The kitchen post-move.Home sweet Horne, taken this morning. We are so happy to finally be in!

We're In!

....Well, sort of.
Sorry folks, no pics today but did want to update the blog to let everyone know that we did close on Friday (the 18th).
We were all set to move on Saturday but the weather had other plans. We tried to get the move to happen on Friday night, ahead of the storm being called for, but the movers couldn't swing it. Saturday morning it was officially postponed where there was a good 4-6 inches of snow already on the ground at 7 AM. It would continue to snow through the evening, leaving us with about 20 inches total.
Once the moving van, our storage units and our development got plowed out, the move recommenced at noon yesterday.
By 4 PM (just before Ravens kickoff) our belongings from Connecticut, that had been in storage for 2+ years, were free once more. Now the daunting task of unpacking and arranging furniture begins. We are tired just thinking about it.
We are very happy to be getting settled into our new house. I will post more pics once I get through the boxes in my kitchen that are blocking the pantry, which is where I stuck the camera yesterday pre-move craziness!
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Coming Along

First story has all 4 walls. As of yesterday afternoon, the second story had 2. Mid-70s and sunny yesterday; great day for building, in our opinion anyway.

Making Progress

Basement? Check.
Walls? 2 out of 4 on the main floor, not too shabby. The whole thing could be framed out in the next few days, if this decent weather holds out.

Ribbon Cutting

The official ribbon cutting ceremony took place at Renaissance Square on October 8th. Article below, or you can click on this link to read the article online: www.eastcountytimesonline.com/story5.htm

Weather has been gross to say the least so we will try and get over to the lot next week for updated pics. We might even have basement walls by that point!

The Birth of 9 Arbor Drive

So everyone keeps asking what is going on with the house. Until today, we just said, not much, it's still a lovely pile of dirt.
The permits finally came back from the county on September 1st, and at that point they had to run the wires, etc for plumbing and electrical.
Well we just got the high sign today that the lot is being excavated on at this very moment. So now the clock starts ticking!
The models are pretty far along, about 6 weeks in, so we are using that as our gage; but also figuring they probably banged those out quicker than normal to get people going through them to get us neighbors.
We've said January 2010 from the start, and we are thinking the same now. Fingers crossed. But whenever it is, it is.
We are very excited. 9 Arbor Drive is coming to fruition!

60 Days Post Contract

Well, it's been 2 months since we signed on the dotted line to begin this adventure. There were signs of action going on over there last week, so we took a ride. Apparently this is meant to be as they are using Horne concrete.

Our piece of dirt. It looks like things have been marked...And they've started on the 2 model homes (well, poured concrete). So we shouldn't be too far behind.

We had a fun (and expensive) meeting yesterday to go over options and upgrades. We chose our house color scheme, among all the other countless details.

An artistic rendering of what our model house will look like whenever it gets finished.

Home Sweet Horne

(Home may appear smaller than actual size).

After a long two-year process, we have FINALLY moved on to the home buying phase again.

We have signed a contract to build a home in the new Renaissance Square development in Essex (northeast Baltimore); a mere 1/2 mile from where we are now and being built by the same building company.

Stay tuned for updates, upgrades and potentially, upsets (ie frustration).
